Special Techniques

Swedish Massage

I was first trained is Swedish (the Ahhh-massage) and my massage starts there. I work within your comfort zone. Some people like gentle persuasion and some like a deeper tissue version. No matter what technique, massage shouldn’t go further than some mild discomfort. If you feel you need more or less pressure or want me to try a different way to get something to release, let me know. Over the years of continuing education I have learned many techniques which will assist with the goal of alleviating pain and gaining freedom of movement. Some examples are: Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Motion Therapy, Jin Shin Do, and Push Therapy.

MyoKinesthetic System

This is what I'm really excited about!
Tired of your last massage not being effective? Try MYK!

MYK identifies the root of the problem. The Nerve Root. Different than classic massage in that it uses no oils or lotions and you don’t have to get undressed. You and I will combine a series of movements that follow the muscles along a nerve pathway. Developed by Chiropractor Michael Uriarte, it adjusts the muscles holding a posture without the forced manipulation one gets from a chiropractic visit. Often, along a nerve pathway, some muscles are fatigued while others are overfiring. MYK allows your nervous system to "reboot" and clear muscular overcompensation. MYK addresses an assortment of nerve and muscle conditions including: Sciatica, carpel-tunnel syndrome, tennis or golfer’s elbow, tendonitis, plantar fascitis, knee pains, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, to name a few.

GuaSha

A 2000-year-old Chinese tool made from Water Buffalo horn or Jade is used to release the Vital Life Force Energy from deep within the body. This is a cousin techinque to cupping. The tool gently scrapes away stagnant blood, lymph, or toxins and allows fresh, oxygenated fluids to renew. WARNING! On some skin types, this will leave marks known as petechiae which resemble bruising but is quite the the opposite of bruising. As congestion in the tissue is released, stagnant blood cells come to the surface. It may not look pretty, but greatly improves freedom in the tissue. There is a fantastic webpage for further info at www.guasha.com.

Reflexology

This is a technique in which manual pressure is applied to the feet or hands in specific locations to relieve tension, improve circulation, and help restore balance to the body. Think of a good foot or hand rub with additional benefits to both the mind and body.

Breast Massage

An effective treatment for women to help reduce and/or remove benign cysts, fibroids, lymphatic fluid buildup, and toxins. In addition, this therapy assists in diminishing scar tissue from mastectomy, lumpectomy, and augmentation operations. It works to reduce edema, is gentle, and relaxing. It can be incorporated into a personalized massage session. Please allow 30 to 45 minutes.

Reiki

From the highest mountains of the planet comes the clear healing of Reiki, pronounced ray-key, which translates to Universal Love Life Force Energy. This gently balances the body and emotional energy. It comes with the massage or by itself.
